Product Description You asked for STRONGER WiFi and Extended Range and here it is. We have combined this high power Wi-Fi adapters with a powerful +9 dBi 15'' 2.4GHz Hi-Gain folding antenna. Estimated range is (depending on environment) 1.2 mile (2km) Most common Wi-Fi devices (D-Link, Linksys, and Netgear) have power ratings of less than 50mW (milliwatts.) Our new Wi-Fi device is 10x as strong (1000 mW.) This adapter is what the WiFi world has been waiting for. It is compatible with almost all laptops and desktop, PCs and Macs. This kit also includes two antennas- one mini 5 dBi gain travel antenna, and one high gain 9 dBi antenna, as pictured. It is perfect to travel with and weighing less than 2 ounces and measuring 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size (8.5 x 6.3cm) This has a stunning 1000mw output power. So if you are looking for a device to connect to an outdoor 2.4 GHz antenna, such as on a boat or an RV, this is a perfect solution. Because this is a USB adapter, it works on any computer that has a USB port.this also works with Windows Vista, Linux (kernel 2.6.6 and later) and Macintosh (OS version 10.4). And the drivers for ALL of these operating systems are included on CD-ROM - Wi-Fi Certified - Includes 2 external antennas- a 5 dBi mini antenna, and an 9 dBi antenna as pictured - Diagnostic LED indicator - Complies with 802.11g standard for 2.4Ghz Wireless LAN - Contains RP-SMA external antenna jack (one external antenna is included!) - Enterprise-class 64/128 WEP encryption, WPA, WPA-PSK, WPA2, 802.1X support - 54 mbps High-Speed Transfer Rate for 802.11g - High powered adapter- 1000mw output power - USB 2.0 and 1.1 compliant

WOW! works beyond expectations! May 16, 2009 Burlyn Jackson (billy66bare) 44 out of 48 found this review helpful
We kinda bought this figuring it was "snake oil". Well, we were wrong...dead wrong! We plugged this into the Vista laptop, Vista found it and we were using it in less than 1 minute, and to our surprise it picked up our neighbor's router 1000 ft down the road and on the other side of his house! We used to get his signal intermittently on the laptop, but with this plugged in with the hi-gain antenna, we get 4 out of 5 bars! This is through tall, thick trees and a motor home!
When the first reviewer (I read)says it got her father in law's signal 1000 feet or yards down the road, she isn't lying!!!
I just put it on my Windows 7 desktop and it works just the same. I just plugged it in, and windows found it, installed drivers and it's fine.
I ALWAYS suggest going online for the latest drivers for any computer hardware, but this one seems to work fine off of Windows Vista and 7's proprietary drivers.
Excellent USB Wireless Adaptor January 7, 2010 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Alfa USB wireless adapter works very well in both Windows and Linux. Using the internal wireless adapter in my Asus 1000HA netbook, I could only detect a few networks in my neighborhood. After attaching this adapter, I was able to detect 15+ networks.
The Alfa adapter works great with Backtrack, as I'm sure you've read from various forums. The card allows for monitor mode, packet injection, etc. If you're looking for a card for wireless pen-testing, then this is the one for you. You will not be disappointed.
This unit is meant for certain people. February 21, 2010 A. Ashraf 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
While true, it IS wireless interface that sports a staggering 1W (1000 MW) of power...and a giant 9dBi antenna; let's all face it! It can be used as a simple booster for the average computer user who doesn't get the best signal from their neighbors WiFi. But the truth is this unit is really meant for people who want to put it into monitor mode, especially since you can use it for packet injection, aircrack-ng, etc.
This review is meant mostly for reviewers who find themselves in the latter category, however applies to all.
As previously stated, works great with AIRCRACK, with its RealTek chipset. Works excellent in Ubuntu Linux 9.10. It even works great with VMWARE (more specifically, Sun Virtualbox - BackTrack 4). I love my Alfa, I use it everyday. I ended up purchasing a suction cup to attach it to the back of my laptop. I definitely recommend this to my fellow computer user.
Bottom line is:
Its great for pentesters and noobs alike!!!
Its not that expensive.
The 9dBi antenna is great for stealing Ms. Mullen's (the old lady next door who hasn't secured their firewall) internet.
Whenever you whip it out (the Alfa....that is) with the 9 dBi antenna people always ask what it is and it's fun to occasionally reply with:
"It's my uplink to the Omega-4 satellite....but that's the only information I can give you..."
Really does work when nothing else will December 3, 2009 M. Wright 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this about 5 months ago. I work in a motel, where the office is located below the actual rooms on a hill above and behind (id say 50-60 yards). There is wireless up there for the rooms but not down here. I've tried about 5 different laptops (and 2 adapters in mine), and the best we manage is to see an inconsistent list of the networks up there. Can't connect to any. Most of the problem i think is line of sight or interference, because if i go outside with no obstructions i can get a signal 1 foot from where i tried inside the window. A weak signal even then.
So i bought this, thinking its probably a waste of cash, ill get ripped. Well to my shock, it detected all of the networks up there from inside the office. Not only that, but i can connect to 4 out of 5 of them, and one of them is extremely fast. I only use the short antenna. And if i take this antenna up to the actual rooms, even there i connect 5 times faster.
CONS: i have is the software that comes with it doesn't seem to work in vista, but the antenna works anyway with the windows driver/software. Also, sometimes i have to restart the router when i lose signal while playing certain games like World of Warcraft. Never while browsing though.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who cant quite get a signal.
WiFi card review. January 24, 2010 D 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As everybody else has stated, this adapter works!!
There was a negative review on this prouduct, by a guy hyping a engenius adapter (which i bought just to try),
but everything bad he stated about it actually applied to the engenius adapter.
This little guy pulls in signals quite well.
If my laptops card reads 10-20% signal, as soon as i plug this adapter in it jumps to 60-70% signal.
As a side note, make sure you disable your internal card before switching,
to make sure you are on the external card before griping about signal strength.;-)
Bottom line... This card rocks!
